IBM has launched a new Db2 for z/OS Customer Newsletter to provide updates, new features, and best practices for users. This first edition covers the most important developments in Q4 2024, including new releases, critical alerts, documentation updates, and upcoming events.

Here’s a detailed summary of the first edition of the IBM Db2 for z/OS Customer Newsletter for Q4 2024:

Critical Alerts and Issues

Potential Data Loss with PBR RPN Table Spaces

A serious issue has been identified in Db2 12 and 13 for z/OS related to Partition-by-Range (PBR) Relative Page Numbering (RPN) table spaces in data-sharing environments. A defect in APAR PH54949 (UI92688/UI92689) may cause inconsistencies between Db2 12 and Db2 13 members, leading to undetected data loss.

  • The issue affects migrations from V12 to V13R1M100 or activations of V13R1M500+.
  • Simply removing UI92688 or UI92689 does not resolve the problem.
  • IBM recommends reviewing system configurations and taking the necessary corrective actions.
