AnonymInaktivHi folks,
[just to attract more english speaking forumers …]
do you want to connect your workstation to DB2 for z/OS? Do you want to access data without installing IBM’s DB2 Connect?
You must purchase a DB2 Connect product to connect to a DB2 host server on z/OS, iSeries, VM or VSE through the DB2 Universal JDBC / SQLJ Type 2Â or Type 4 driver.
But you don’t need to install DB2 Connect to use the driver to connect to a host database. If you purchase DB2 Connect, you may copy the Type 4 driver and the license file from DB2 Connect onto your production or development system. A DB2 Connect license is required for each machine.
In order to connect to DB2 on z/OS®, iSeries™ or VM/VSE, the DB2 Universal JDBC Driver (which includes JDBC type 4 and type 2 connectivity) requires the license file "db2jcc_license_cisuz.jar". The following link will bring you to a list of license files and the products that include them (see Table 86): http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8//topic/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/ad/t0010264.htm.
The db2jcc_license_cisuz.jar file has been removed from certain products in client installations of DB2 UDB V8.2 and later FixPaks. Â
Once licensed, installed and available, the license file enables you to directly access DB2 for z/OS databases just using an appropriate JDBC URL connect string (equals DB2 JDBC type 4 connection), specifying server, port and location. Nevertheless, JDBC type 2 connections need DB2 for z/OS servers "catalogued" at your workstation -Â JDBC type 4 don’t.
Need more assistance – just add your post.
regards
GernotÂ
